The Poetry Society’s Under the Influence series has proved a popular and critical success in exploring how today’s poets engage with, learn from, explore and acknowledge poets of the past. This year's series invites leading names in our current poetry world to expand on the influence of significant twentieth-century figures in shaping their own endeavours and poetic sensibilities. A glass of wine is included under the generous sponsorship of Averys Wine Merchants, www.averys.com

Fill the goblet again! for I never before
Felt the glow which now gladdens my heart to its core;
Let us drink! - who would not? - since, through life's varied round,
In the goblet alone no deception is found.
- Lord Byron
