7pm for a 7.30pm start. Come one, come all! On Thursday, May 24 the Poetry Café will host a FREE salon of nonsense to celebrate the bicentenary of Edward Lear. Bring your favourite Edward Lear poem, a lost gem of the limerick art, or read your own nonsense poetry as runcible homage.
Sign up to confirm your place on the running order by emailing marketing@poetrysociety.org.uk
All welcome.
Nonsensical offerings from Shanta Acharya, Simon Miles, Diana Mavroleon, Tara Woolnough, Clare Waters, Clifford Bevan, and Sioux Bradshaw...plus a secret treat from Harry Secombe.
The bar will be open, and the Happy Birthday Edward Lear exhibition will be on display, with 40 pieces of art based on Edward Lear's work (including Glen Baxter, Phil Shaw, Peter Blegvad, John Vernon Lord, Paul Bommer, Chichi Parish, Linda Hughes and Andrew Baker). See www.poetrysociety.org.uk/content/cafe/exhibition for details about the exhibition.
