Poetry in Trafalgar Square

The Poetry Society and the Royal Norwegian Embassy bring poetry to Trafalgar Square this Christmas

Two new poems have been commissioned, celebrating the City of Oslo¹s annual gift of a Christmas tree to the people of London.

The poems have been transferred to colourful panels, 24-metres long, which encircle the trunk of the tree.

'Tree Song' by Kit Wright is based on lines, images and ideas from the poems of children from Westminster primary schools.

'Snow and Spruce Forest' is a new version by Kevin Crossley-Holland after the famous Norwegian poem 'Sno og granskog' by Tarjei Vesaas.

View the poetry in the square from 2pm on 4 December to 6pm 23 December.
