Poetry News is the Poetry Society's quarterly newspaper. Members are invited to send in poems on a particular theme each quarter, and six of the best are included on a regular, dedicated members' page. There is also a 'close-up' on the nuts and bolts of poetic craft; a 'q & a' on the route to a first collection; interviews with rising stars; profiles of poetry publishers and magazines; features on poetry overseas; and news of prize-winners. Plus there are of course details of current activities at the Poetry Society. Each year the Hamish Canham Poetry Prize awards £300 to the best member's poem to appear in its pages.
Poetry News is published in April, June, September and December.
We're always on the look out for new Membership Profiles to feature in Poetry News. If you have an interesting story, we want to hear it. Please let us know by completing the attached Membership Profile questionnaire. We can't guarantee when or if you will appear but we will contact you to let you know if your profile is being considered for publication.
A selection of articles and a contents list for each issue from 2001 onwards are available on this site (see menu bar to the left).
