Our links pages will become more and more plentiful with every new issue of our Young Poets Magazine. We'll ask each guest editor to suggest anything they feel that's relevant, and if you have anything to suggest (magazines, blogs, competitions) please get in contact with us by email or post.
Magazines
- Ambit Magazine
Ambit is a magazine with a long history, dating back to 1959. They are open to new writers, as well as experimental or unusual takes on poetry!
- The Cadaverine
Is dedicated to promoting new and emerging authors to new readerships of poetry online. Started by an ex-Foyle Young Poet, they publish writers under-25 alongside interviews and short stories.
- Magma Poetry
Also well established, Magma is edited by a different person each time, making space for new tastes and poets.
- Pomegranate Magazine
This is an online magazine founded by previous winners of the 2006 Foyle competition, open to articles, reviews and poems, with a different theme each issue.
- Wolf Magazine
Five years old, The Wolf is another publication that welcomes new writers.
- Young Writer
This magazine has been running for several years in print. It's an international platform for writing by children and young people up to the age of 18. Full of tips and ideas for writing too!

Competitions
- Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award
Not that we really need to tell you about this, but if you haven't entered our competition before it is well worth the effort. All poems entered will be judged by an enthusiastic pair of top contemporary poets, and the chosen winners get the chance to attend a week long Arvon course, or win a special visit to their school by one of our top education poets.
- The Old Possum's Children's Poetry Bookshelf Competition
This is a worldwide competition for young writers aged 7-11. The natural place to cut your teeth on before you jump into Foyle Young Poets. The prizes are split into two age categories - 7-8 and 9-11.
- The Christopher Tower Poetry Prize
This annual poetry prize offers young poets the oppurtunity to win a £3,000 first prize.
- Rialto Young Poets
This competition is your chance to be published in the Rialto Poetry Magazine.
