The Young Poet Pages are a space for our Youth Members to show everyone what they're up to with their writing and reading. You'll find articles and poems by former Youth Members in the Archive, and current members in the latest issue of the magazine.
We hope these pages act as a platform to get you talking about ideas, poems you love and most of all sharing and writing poetry in a supportive, creative atmosphere.
Any Youth Member can send us material for these pages - articles, reviews, poems, recordings and images. We'd also like to know about any sites you'd recommend to other young writers - tell us and we'll add them to our links. Check our submission guidelines below for more detail.
If you'd like to be a guest editor, please email us and let us know.
Guest Editor: Richard O'Brien
This issue features a range of poems by current and recent Youth Members, as well as a review and article by Richard O'Brien. We've also included a selection of audio poems recorded at a small gathering of Youth Members that took place in early 2008.
First and most important thing: you have to be a current Youth Member in order to submit to these pages. If you're not, and aged 11-18, then you might want to consider becoming a Youth Member.
When you send things to us, we'll send them on to a guest editor to compile favourites. You can send us:
Please send written submissions as Word attachments or in the body of an email. If you're using playful layouts, please be aware that these will probably clean up when we put them into our website, so you might want to send a jpg of your poem instead.
If you're not sure about sending us something, then the best thing is to ask, but we're open to anything poetry-related.
If you're interested, then email us or write to us by post at:

We'll also host the odd event at the Poetry Cafe in Covent Garden where we'll be inviting you to come down to the cafe and read some of your poetry or just enjoy the atmosphere. You can also find us on facebook at the Foyle Young Poets group, where we post up items of interest to young poets.
The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award is Britain's most prestigious poetry prize for young writers between the ages of 11-17. Each year we look for a hundred of the best young poets in the UK and beyond, as well as some of the most active poetry schools with special prizes for both 11-14 and 15-17 year olds. The closing date each year is 31st July.
Slambassadors is the only UK professional development online slam and is open to 12-18 year olds across the UK. If you’re keen to develop your writing and stage skills, this is the competition for you.
