* About Bradford Poetry Workshop. A critical and constructive workshop for writers and fans of poetry. Bradford Poetry Workshop meets monthly, on the fourth Monday of the month at 8.30p.m @ the New Beehive, Westgate Bradford BD1. Bring along at least half a dozen copies of your poem for constructive criticism or just sit in and listen and comment. On other Mondays same time, same place, Beehive Poets either have readarounds or guest readers. More details from bruce.poetbradford AT blueyonder.co.uk or tel 01274 223665.

* Saturday writing workshops in delightful Hebden Bridge: 6, 13, 20 March from 10am till 3.30pm with a half hour for lunch (with utterly delicious homemade bread and soup).

The sessions are run through the WEA, so please book (by 31st Jan at the latest) with Linda Croft on 01706 818 103 or email her at lcroft at wea.org.uk. The WEA have various concessions for various categories of people, and all four sessions - ie 20 hours of vibrant teaching and real hands-on learning! - is only £60 even if you have to pay full whack.

The sessions are tailored to exactly what you want to cover, but ideas to start with are: Plot development; How to make writing a real part of your daily life; Writing from personal development; Writing in different styles.

In the last 4 sessions we covered: Writing on location; Character development; Writing dialogue; and How to edit - this doesn't, of course, mean that these won't be referred to (frequently!) again, and I am quite happy to run refreshers on any of these, and also tailor sessions to meet particular needs of the student group.
