We are a group of poets who meet in the evening (usually Friday) for about two hours every four to six weeks. Because we are a small Stanza (with both Poetry Society members and non-members), we are currently able to arrange meetings on an ad hoc basis to suit inividuals' other commitments.

Our usual format is for everyone to bring one or two of their own poems to share aloud (and on the page) for others to give constructive feedback. We also use the meeting to discuss poetry events (particularly local), books, submission experiences etc.

* Stanza member Jenny Hope and Stanza rep Sarah Leavesley (aka Sarah James) will be taking part in Droitwich Arts 4 All on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Norbury Theatre in Droitwich from noon to 4pm.

* Jenny Hope will be launching, reading from and signing copies of her new poetry collection ‘Petrolhead’ (Oversteps Books)* at the event in the afternoon. ‘Petrolhead’ has endorsements from David Hart and Roz Goddard. Jenny has previously been published in small-press magazines, including The Rialto and The Interpreter's House. Sample poems are available on www.overstepsbooks.com priced at £8. ‘Petrolhead’ is also listed on the Poetry Society's member's bookshelf and a copy is in the Poetry Cafe.

* Sarah James will also doing a poetry reading and running a display stand from noon to 4pm featuring poetry and photography/art, as well as offering a preview of some of the work from her collection ‘Into the Yell’ to be published by Circaidy Gregory Press in July 2010. Entry to the event, which showcases a range of visual and performing arts groups, is free. It is aimed at all ages and includes music, theatre, arts, displays, performances, information and workshops.

* The next stanza meeting will be on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 8pm at our usual Droitwich venue. New members are always welcome.

* Stanza member Amanda Bonnick will be playing Gertrude in a staged reading (script in hand) of Shakespeare's Hamlet at Worcester Arts Workshop on Friday, April 23 (Shakespeare's birthday). The Melting Pot Theatre Company performance in aid of the Worcester Arts Workshop starts at 7pm. Tickets can be bought on the door priced at five or six pounds .
