We are a mutually supportive group of enthusiastic poets, committed to improving our poetry craft skills and taking poetry into the local community. Our annual programme includes twelve monthly meetings on the last Monday of the month at 7.30 p.m., in the upper room of the Christian Centre by St Martin's Church, Dorking RH4 1DW. The evening is divided into two parts: The first hour includes a discussion about various aspects of poetry, or individual published poets, and is presented by one of the group members. We also have evenings where guest poets read from their own collections and offer a critique of our poems; the second hour is a workshop of four poems brought by members. Some meetings, e.g. those held during the Mole Valley annual Arts Alive Festival, are open to members of the public and include workshops on creative writing and the Poetry Pub, an open mic event. The annual subscription is £18. More information is available on www.molevalleypoets.co.uk/

Our next meeting: 27 February - Tony Earnshaw on The Poetry of Peter Reading.

Mole Valley Poets/The Poetry Society Surrey Stanza Group welcome Myra Schneider as our Sofa Poet on Monday 30th April at 19.30 in the Christian Centre, Dorking. In January 2012 our Stanza held its second meeting with two new members joining us. Members' poems were read and studied, ideas for editing discussed, and much encouragement shared. The next meeting is planned for Wed 7 March and we welcome any new members who would like to join this new and growing group. As well as discussing members' poems, there will be exciting news about the next opportunity to participate in a reading evening on the evening 13 April in a local bookshop. One item for discussion will be the best way to incorporate an open mic session as well as featured poets' slots.
