* Our next meeting is Monday March 15 (not the week before as previously mooted), at the George Canning on Grove Lane at Champion Hill, SE5 at 7.45 to 9.15 pm. Buses 484, 176, 40 and 185 stop outside or train to Denmark Hill, 3 minutes on foot.

The session goes roughly like this:
1 We each select something to read: The reading theme for March is a human/animal symbiosis - such as horse and rider, hawk and hawker, snake and charmer....Bring a published poem you'd like to read aloud and discuss
2 We have some chat about what's coming up in the local and London poetry scene, including our April and May events: how to get involved in Poets' Responses to Paul Nash, a new exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, poems to be read at the Crown and Greyhound, Dulwich on 7 May
3 there is usually time for an exchange: bring a copy of a new poem of your own or work in progress if you wish to air it or swap it with another writer for comment.

The Stanza as a whole has had a productive and fulfilling year in 2009. Our centenary project for the National Trust was a great success. We had the opportunity to try out different kinds of workshops at Osterley Park to see which method worked best to introduce poetry to visitors at the property. 

The next meeting for our Stanza is on 21 January 2010. Next year we aim to be back with “Barnestorm 3”, an event at the Poetry Cafe featuring new work from the members of the Stanza.

We're a relaxed group. Our Stanza meets monthly on the first Wednesday of every month. Reading and discussing both published works and our own material. Brixton Hill SW2, 8pm to 10pm. Newcomers welcome.
