Manningtree Women's Group
Romford
The Essex Poetry & Prose Society meets on the last Sunday of the month at Stebbing, in north Essex, near Dunmow. Contact the Stanza Rep for details. We are a poetry appreciation group.
This is a new group, started in January 2010. The aim of the group is to bring together Society members who are writing poetry and who aspire to write good quality poetry, worthy of publication in the Society newsletter, - in fact to create a local poetry workshop. It may be possible to consider publication, when established, or even put on joint readings in connection with the Essex Poetry Festival, maybe even a Slam. At the moment, there are no set ideas about when or where to meet – this can be resolved by general agreement by those interested.
Please contact Mary directly if you are interested in (or want to find out more about) joining the Stanza.
Manningtree
We have six active poets, all of us published and keen. I had a second chapbook released on 2 October 2009 with Happenstance Press.
During our two years together we've read to other groups several times. We look at contemporary work besides our own and visiting poets join us from time to time.
Meetings are generally on a Wednesday, in my house in Manningtree.
* Seven poets from Manningtree Stanza will be reading in Walton Library on 2 March 2.30 pm as part of the Essex Book Festival. tickets £4/3. 52 High Street, Walton on the Naze, CO14 8AE
