Stanza News: Derbyshire

March update: The monthly get-togethers are going well with about 10 people turning up on average at the different venues. I hope to encourage other poets to visit the Peak District this summer too.

I'm in email correspondence with Birmingham and Leicester Stanzas about them coming up in June for a walk and poetry session - I'm still sorting out details for this so nothing to report yet. But, in August - details below - I am hoping that other Stanzas might like to come here for a walk and poetry event too.

Saturday 11 August – White Peak Walk & Poetry at 11am Hall (near Dovedale). This is an opportunity for Stanza members from different areas to meet some of the Derbyshire Stanza members and be inspired by the Peak District landscape. 10am arrive, 10.30am guided walk with National Trust volunteer, 12.30-1.30pm lunch, 1.30-3.30pm poetry session in the Learning Room - all away by 4pm. £3 a head to cover the cost of guide and room hire. Parking fees and lunch at individual's own expense.

Our April meeting - Sunday 15 April, 5pm-8pm, Roebuck Inn, 9, Market Place, Chapel en le Frith, Derbyshire SK23 0EN. Don’t forget to bring a poem based on the theme ‘April’ to get feedback on.

Local poetry competition news - Buxton Poetry Competition 2012. Theme: ‘Welcome to Britain’.
The closing date is April 6 2012. Ann & Peter Sansom are judges. Top prize £300 with other cash prizes and book tokens also up for grabs.
