We meet on the last Tuesday of the month in Stalybridge Station Buffet Bar, 7.00 to 9.30 p.m.Launch event for the Writing the Cathedral project involving several Stanza members, on 5th March, 7.00 p.m. at Manchester Cathedral.
Rachel was involved in a collaboration between six MMU MA graduates and six composers from the Royal Northern College of Music. Part of the Richard Strauss Festival, poets wrote poems inspired by Strauss songs. These were set by RNCM composers. The works were performed at the Bridgewater Hall on February 8th.
January 2014: Mid-Cheshire Stanza is trying out a new venue, in Witton Street, Northwich, next door but one to Northwich Library. This is the home of Visual Art Cheshire, a pop-up art gallery. Meetings will be on a Monday night from 7-9. Dates are 3rd Feb, 24th Feb, and 24th March. There will be a workshop and chance for feedback from the group. Workshops will be led by members on a rota basis. Donation to the gallery (£2-£3 per person suggested amount) in exchange for the use of the gallery and refreshments. New members welcome.
Edwin Stockdale, has had a pamphlet accepted by Red Squirrel Press, due in September 2014.
Maureen Weldon has had one accepted by Poetry Space, which is due out in autumn, called Midnight Robin
Jan Dean has co-written a children's poetry book on a theme of animals, with Roger Stevens. It is due out this year from Macmillan, entitled The Penguin in Lost Property.
