Short Description of the event: Part of the Great Trees of Cornwall Project to celebrate the Poetry Society's Centenary, sponsored by the Tanner Trust, Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership, and The Poetry Society. An opportunity for adults (whether experienced or not) to write poetry with Helen Jagger in response to the cliff-growing ancient oak woodland at The Dizzard. We'll walk, talk and make notes at The Dizzard before returning to Boscastle to share our reactions to the landscape and consider some tree poems before drafting and revising poems of our own.

This workshop will include lots of study of notable trees at Trebah, with writing exercises as well as consideration of tree poems by other poets (do bring along one you've discovered). If you attend the March workshop, you'll be able to study the contrast and tensions between late winter trees and how they change to the full glory of summer.

I Spy Poetry in the Trees is an opportunity for families playing together with Helen Jagger to create poetry inspired by some of the special trees in Tehidy, including the Twisted Beech, the Monkey Puzzle with the elephant's foot, and the Fallen Giant.

The Penzance Poetry Society Stanza are celebrating the Poetry Society's Centenary with a Poetry Day at Trengwainton. The aim is to encourage the wider enjoyment of poetry. The emphasis will be on family and all age participation. There will be poetry readings, book signings and a poetry workshop throughout the day. It will be a rare opportunity to relax and listen to local poets reading their own work. There will also be readings of the work of well known poets. It will also be an opportunity to enjoy the tranquil setting of this spectacular garden at its best. If you are a Poet or would like to read your favourite poems on the day, Penzance Poetry Society Stanza would like to hear from you. Admission to the event is by payment at the gate at standard National Trust prices. There is no charge for individual events.
