Foyle Poet Shadowing 2009

These opportuntites are now closed for applications,
applicants will be informed if they have been selected for interview by Friday 17th July.
Thanks to funding from the Foyle Foundation, The Poetry Society is pleased to announce that it will be giving four young poets, up to the age of 30, the opportunity to shadow professional education poets working with children in the following arts venues:
• Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery in Merthyr Tydfil
• Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery
• Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery
• Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield
As a shadowing poet, you will be assisting a professional education poet and enabling local school children to write poetry inspired by work in the arts venue. The work will run in partnership with the Princes’ Trust’s Poetry Quest project and will consist of four day-long visits in January-May 2010.
This would suit a confident young poet who is interested in running poetry workshops in the future and may or may not already have some experience.
A total of £50 per day visit will be paid
N.B. There is a very small budget for transport costs for these visits and the excess may have to be made up out of your remuneration so please only apply if you will be close to one of the venues during January-May 2010.
Please submit a CV and a covering letter explaining your reasons for applying, your achievements and any publications as an emerging poet, and why you think your skills make you the best candidate. Please mention which arts venue(s) you would be able to shadow at.
If you have any questions please email: hhopkins@poetrysociety.org.uk or telephone 0207 420 9897.
Please email applications to: hhopkins@poetrysociety.org.uk
The Princes’ Trust will conduct Criminal Records Bureau enhanced disclosure checks on successful applicants.
Deadline for applications: 12 noon Monday 13th July
Potential candidates will be contacted for a telephone interview by: Friday 17th July
