The Poetry Society's Young Poets Network teamed up with Cape Farewell - the international not-for-profit organisation set up to instigate a cultural response to Climate Change, based in the Science Museum's Dana Centre, London. Poet Karen McCarthy Woolf set four poetry challenges hosted on the Young Poets Network which invited young poets to respond to Cape Farewell’s archive of photos, videos and blog posts
ITV LONDON UNDERGROUND COMMISSION
Happy Birthday London Underground, 150 years old. ITV's news programme 'London Tonight' asked the Poetry Society to commission a poem to mark the Tube's anniversary. John Hegley wrote a poem on the spot. Here's his poem, 'Of Mice and Many'. Written, filmed and broadcast on 11 January 2013.
TRAFALGAR SQUARE CHRISTMAS TREE
For the fourth year running, The Poetry Society, in partnership with the Mayor of Oslo’s Office and the Royal Norwegian Embassy, will wrap the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree in a poem. Drawing inspiration from primary school children's poems written during workshops in November, a final poem has been written by Jackie Kay, to celebrate this symbol of international friendship through poetry.
